Wood and Disney – Standing out from the competition

We think we stand out from our competition in two major ways.

Firstly, we communicate as humans and not as robots. So many other accountants are enthusing about their “tech stacks” and their use of Ai when business owners simply don’t care. They want results. They want more profits. They want better cashflow. They want handholding when things are tough and a cheerleader when things go well. They don’t get any of those from accountants who are more interested in flashy technology. Another new client today came to us because his previous accountant only wanted to communicate through emails and their portal rather than speak to him. He didn’t understand some of the stuff they were sending him and they weren’t prepared to explain to him what everything meant face to face.

Secondly, we focus on building our clients’ balance sheets rather than on reducing profits to save tax. No one likes to pay tax but no tax means no profits which basically means one major setback and you are bust. You may not like it but paying tax is a sign of success and a sign of a strong balance sheet because corporation tax is 25 pence in the pound and so you are adding the other 75 pence on to your balance sheet for that inevitable rainy day.
Very few of our clients need to borrow money because they have the savings habit with many having significant reserves to ensure they are “bullet proof”.

These two factors help our clients avoid the stark statistics of failure in the UK. According to Companies House only 28% of companies reach their 10th anniversary and only 10% reach their 20th. Fortunately our clients are not in those statistics.
